In a conversation I had recently, I ended up saying that at some point in my life, I will only use my computer about 10% of the time. Only a year ago, I would have never thought that something like could be true, but new technology and my behavior towards it lead me to believe otherwise.
The trend has already started. I am typing this from my phone instead of a computer. I use Twitter on the phone. I send comments, messages and wall posts to Facebook from the phone. I watch photos from the phone. In brief, I communicate in almost every possible way using the phone. I am also online 24/7 even when my computer is off and when I'm in a tunnel, thanks to some interesting applications for mobile devices.
The only things I do on a computer relate to editing photos and videos, and creating websites. Microsoft announced last week, its plan to release a version of Office for the iPhone. Basically, a computer will no longer be a necessity for those types of documents.
Obviously, the experience on a phone isn't the same as on a computer,
but I could think of a few advantages and they all involve being physically active instead of sitting in front of a desk all the time.
